A "wilderness season" is a time when God feels silent, your purpose feels hidden, and your surroundings feel dry. It’s the gap between the promise and the payoff. In these seasons, it’s easy to believe that God has abandoned you. But the Bible tells us the wilderness is exactly where God does His most intimate work.

Isaiah 43:19 (ESV) — "Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."

Deserts are places of stripping away. In the desert, the Israelites couldn't rely on Egyptian harvests; they had to rely on daily Manna from Heaven. Perhaps your current "dryness" isn't a punishment, but a preparation. God often takes us into the wilderness to quiet the noise of the world so we can finally hear His whisper clearly again.

The promise in Isaiah isn't that the wilderness will immediately disappear, but that God will provide rivers within it. You may still be in a difficult season, but you can have supernatural refreshment right where you are.

Write down three things you have learned about God’s character during this difficult time that you didn't know when things were easy.

Prayer

Father, I don’t like the desert, but I trust the Guide. I thank You that even when I feel dry, Your Spirit is a wellspring within me. Open my eyes to see the "new thing" You are doing in my life today. Amen.
